APM Selangau Assists in Lorry-Car Crash Near SMK Ulu Balingian

Selangau – A road accident involving a trailer lorry and a Toyota Camry occurred near the SMK Ulu Balingian overpass area on Wednesday, prompting a swift response from the Selangau District Operations Control Center of the Civil Defence Force, better known as Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia.

According to officials, the emergency call was received earlier in the day, alerting authorities to the collision at the busy stretch of road near the secondary school. The location, which connects several rural areas within Selangau district, is frequently used by heavy vehicles and daily commuters.

Upon receiving the report, the APM Selangau team was immediately mobilised to the scene. When they arrived, personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department were already present and attending to one of the victims involved in the crash. The coordinated effort between agencies ensured that assistance was delivered without delay.

A 69-year-old male victim was found to be suffering from pain in his left rib area. APM personnel carried out an initial assessment using the Rapid Body Survey technique to determine the extent of his injuries. After stabilisation at the scene, the victim was transported to the Sungai Tepus Health Clinic for further medical examination and treatment.

Authorities confirmed that two other individuals sustained minor injuries in the incident. Members of the public who were at the scene acted quickly to assist and transported both victims to the same clinic for medical attention. Their condition was reported to be stable.

The exact cause of the accident has not been officially disclosed, and investigations are expected to be conducted to determine the factors that led to the collision. Road users in the area have been reminded to exercise caution, especially when travelling near school zones and overpass areas where heavy vehicles are frequently present.

The Selangau District Operations Control Center reiterated its commitment to public safety and emergency readiness. Members of the public are advised to contact the 24-hour emergency line at 084-891285 in the event of any disaster or accident requiring immediate assistance.

The incident once again highlights the importance of swift inter-agency cooperation and community response during emergencies. With prompt action from the Civil Defence Force, Fire Department, and concerned citizens, the situation was managed effectively and the victims received timely medical care.
