SPAOH – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Spaoh responded swiftly on 22 June 2026 after a large mango tree collapsed, blocking the main access road to the kindergarten in Kampung Manggut.
The incident was reported at 10.29 am when Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) alerted authorities to the obstruction, which posed risks to both residents and road users.
SEB requested immediate assistance from APM Spaoh to clear the route. Four members of the Charlie Squad were deployed to the site.
Equipped with a chainsaw, the team carried out cutting and removal operations to ensure the road was safe and passable again.
The fallen tree, measuring approximately 6.1 metres (20 feet), was successfully removed without causing injuries or property damage.
Squad leader Sjn (PA) Noriza Binti Japar confirmed that the operation was completed by 1.30 pm. Following the intervention, residents and nursery staff were able to resume normal access to the kindergarten.
Officials highlighted that fallen trees are a recurring hazard during the rainy season and periods of strong winds.
Such incidents can disrupt daily routines and endanger public safety, particularly when they occur near schools or community facilities.
