Ground Wasp Nest Destroyed by APM Spaoh in Garden

SPAOH – The Civil Defence Force (APM) in Spaoh successfully carried out an insect nest extermination operation on Saturday, 9 May, following a public complaint about ground wasps disturbing daily activities in Tanjung Sebekut.

The Spaoh District Operations Control Centre received the report from a resident who expressed concern for his safety and that of the community after noticing several wasps flying around his garden.

In response, four members of the Charlie Squad were dispatched to the location to investigate and take action.

Upon arrival, the team conducted a thorough inspection of the area while equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE).

Their survey confirmed the presence of a ground wasp nest beneath a bamboo tree. The nest, described as being roughly the size of a football, posed a potential risk to residents if left untreated.

The squad proceeded with extermination using a controlled burning method, ensuring the nest was destroyed safely.

The operation was completed without incident, and all personnel returned to the District Operations Control Centre with their equipment at 7.10pm.

APM Spaoh highlighted the importance of swift intervention in such cases, noting that insect nests can pose serious hazards to communities, particularly when located near residential areas.
