Police Arrest Suspect Hours After Attempted Robbery at Sentosa Parade

KUCHING — A quick response by the Padawan District Police led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man believed to be involved in an attempted robbery at the Sentosa Parade shop block along Jalan Penrissen on Tuesday evening.

The incident took place on 26 November 2025, at around 6.40 pm, when a 39-year-old woman was attacked inside her own vehicle while parked in front of the commercial area. According to police, the suspect suddenly entered the victim’s car and allegedly strangled her in an attempt to rob her.

In fear for her life but determined to fight back, the victim managed to press her car horn repeatedly. The loud sound drew attention from the public nearby and forced the suspect to flee the scene before he could steal anything. The victim later lodged a police report, prompting immediate action from the authorities.

Following the report, the Padawan IPD Criminal Investigation Division Operations Team was deployed to track down the suspect. Their efforts paid off within hours. At approximately 1.00 am on 27 November 2025, police successfully arrested the suspect believed to be responsible for the attack. Officers also seized the vehicle used by the suspect during the incident.

Police confirmed that the case is now under investigation under Section 393 of the Penal Code, which deals with attempted robbery. The suspect is expected to be remanded to assist further investigations.

Authorities have advised the public, especially women driving alone, to remain alert when entering or exiting vehicles in public parking areas. Police also encouraged witnesses or individuals with additional information to come forward to assist the investigation.

The swift arrest demonstrates the commitment of Padawan police to maintaining public safety and ensuring criminals are held accountable. The victim reportedly escaped without severe injuries, thanks to her quick action and the timely response from law enforcement.
