SIBU – The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia successfully handled a special service case involving the removal of a snake from a vehicle engine in Sibu Jaya on Monday, 11 May 2026.
The incident occurred at Lorong Eco Garden 9, where a complainant reported the presence of a snake inside the bonnet of their car. Bravo Team from the Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Station were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Operation Commander PBK I Terrance Anak Jimbun led the team, which included PBK II (TBBK I) Shaufik as driver and PBB Nur Syakirin.
The team travelled approximately 2 kilometres to reach the location, using a Mitsubishi Triton utility vehicle (VGR 9844).
Upon arrival, the team conducted a quick assessment and confirmed that a cuddle-type snake had lodged itself within the engine compartment.
Following safety protocols, the members donned full operational clothing before proceeding with the capture.
The operation involved the use of specialised equipment, including snake clippers and a snake drawer, to ensure the reptile was removed without harm to either the public or the firefighters.
Once secured, the snake was released at a safe distance away from residential areas, preventing any further risk to the community.
The operation was completed efficiently, and the team returned to the station after ensuring the area was safe.
The swift response demonstrated the department’s commitment to public safety and its ability to handle wildlife-related emergencies with professionalism.
The Fire and Rescue Department continues to remind the public to remain vigilant and to contact emergency services immediately if dangerous animals are encountered.
Such incidents highlight the importance of trained personnel and proper equipment in managing unexpected situations.
