SRI AMAN – Firefighters from the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Department successfully handled a special service case involving the removal of a bee nest at the State Government Residential Complex, Jalan Kedang, on Wednesday evening, 6 May 2026.
The incident was reported at 8.17pm by a resident, Encik Bolhassan bin Zupklipliee, who contacted the station directly.
The Bravo team was immediately dispatched to the location, which was approximately three kilometres from the fire station.
The operation was led by PBK I (TBK I) Mohd Fadhli bin Buyong, who commanded two vehicles: a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) Scania BME 7039 with a crew of four and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit BMY 4446 with two personnel. In total, seven members were involved in the response.
Upon arrival, the team conducted a size-up and identified a bee nest lodged within the roof pipe channel outside the complainant’s bedroom.
Recognising the potential risk to residents, the commander directed his team to wear full personal protective equipment before commencing the removal.
Using a Baygon insecticide sprayer, the firefighters carefully destroyed the nest, ensuring that no further danger remained.
The operation was completed without complications, and the team confirmed the area was safe before returning to base.
No other agencies were involved in the incident, and no injuries or property damage were reported. The swift and efficient handling of the case demonstrated the department’s commitment to providing high-performance, fast, and friendly service to the community.
Bee infestations are a recurring concern in residential areas across Sarawak, particularly when nests form close to living spaces.
Authorities continue to advise residents to report such cases promptly to prevent accidents and ensure safe removal by trained personnel.
