Bintulu Development Authority Aidilfitri Reception Draws Over 3,000 Visitors

BINTULU – The Aidilfitri Reception Ceremony organised by the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) brought together more than 3,000 visitors at the Bintulu Civic Hall on 30 March, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

The event was officiated by Datuk Len Talif Salleh, Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment of Sarawak, who represented the Premier of Sarawak.

His presence underscored the state government’s support for community-based celebrations that foster unity and inclusivity.

In his speech, Dato Haidar Khan Asghar Khan, Deputy Chairman of BDA, emphasised the importance of such gatherings in strengthening ties among different segments of society.

He noted that the ceremony symbolised togetherness and played a vital role in building goodwill between the government, industry, and local communities.

“This ceremony also reflects the harmony of the diverse community in Bintulu and creates an inclusive atmosphere,” he said, highlighting the event’s role in promoting social cohesion.

This year’s celebration featured 37 stalls set up by various organisations, including the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).

The stalls showcased festive delicacies and cultural displays, adding vibrancy to the occasion and encouraging participation from across the community.

The reception was attended by several distinguished guests, including Datu Muhammad Yakup Kari, General Manager of BDA; Datu Nyurak Keti, Bintulu Division Resident; Jasni Jubli, State Development Director and BDA Board Member; Johnny Pang Leong Ming, Tanjong Batu State Assemblyman; and Iskandar Turkee, Jepak Assemblyman. Their presence reflected the strong support from both government and community leaders for the event.

The Aidilfitri Reception Ceremony has become a hallmark of Bintulu’s festive calendar, serving as a platform to celebrate cultural diversity and strengthen community bonds.
