BINTULU – The Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) installed six new hanging bin units along the Tun Taib Bridge route, extending toward the nearby roundabout. The move aims to improve cleanliness and make waste disposal easier for the public.
The installation forms part of BDA’s ongoing effort to encourage responsible waste disposal and maintain a cleaner town environment. Accessible bins help reduce litter and support a more organised system of waste management.
Officials stated that the bins were placed at strategic points along the route so both pedestrians and motorists find them easy to use. The measure reflects BDA’s effort to create an urban setting which stays practical while remaining pleasant for residents and visitors.
The authority linked the project with its wider goal of sustainable urban development. Clean surroundings play a key role in improving daily life while strengthening Bintulu’s image as a growing industrial and commercial centre in Sarawak.
Public cooperation remains important for the initiative’s success. BDA urged residents to use the facilities responsibly and help protect the town’s environment. The authority also reminded the public that littering or misuse of the bins can be reported through official communication channels.
Residents welcomed the addition, noting that bins placed along busy routes make proper waste disposal easier. Environmental groups also supported the step, pointing out that consistent small measures support long-term sustainability efforts.
Clean urban spaces continue to gain attention across Sarawak as towns and cities strengthen waste management systems. In Bintulu, the hanging bin project serves as a practical step toward encouraging civic responsibility and keeping public areas clean and hygienic.
BDA continues to encourage participation from the wider community. With shared responsibility, the authority believes Bintulu will remain a clean, comfortable, and attractive place for both residents and visitors.
