A team from the Bintangor Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, firefighters found that the blaze involved a motorcycle parked close to a nearby building. The motorcycle was already 100 percent destroyed by the fire,” the spokesman said in a statement today.

Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the building structure, preventing further damage.

Firefighters acted swiftly by deploying a single stream of auxiliary hoses to bring the situation under control.

“The fire was successfully extinguished in about 17 minutes, and the entire operation ended at 4.25am,” the spokesman added.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire and investigations are ongoing.

This latest case adds to a series of small-scale fire incidents reported across Sarawak in recent weeks, with most involving vehicles parked near residential or commercial areas.

Residents are reminded to take extra precautions when parking motorcycles near buildings, particularly in areas with poor lighting and limited surveillance. JBPM also advises the public to immediately report any suspicious activity that could lead to fire hazards.

The prompt action of the Bintangor firefighters prevented a more serious situation, and their efficiency once again highlighted the importance of quick response in safeguarding lives and property.
