BiSA 2026 is an initiative led by the Bintulu Development Authority in collaboration with key partners, including the Department of Environment, Sarawak Natural Resources and Environment Board, Department of Occupational Safety and Health, Universiti Putra Malaysia Sarawak, and the Bintulu District Education Office.

The awards recognise sustainability initiatives across industries, government, education, communities, and individuals, aiming to inspire broader adoption of environmentally responsible practices.

The initiative aligns with the BDA Strategic Plan 2024-2030, which envisions Bintulu as a low-carbon industrial hub that balances economic growth with environmental preservation and community well-being.

During the pre-launch, organisers outlined BiSA’s objectives, stressing that the awards represent a collective movement rather than simply a recognition platform. Lydia Soloma described the initiative as “a joint movement to build a more sustainable, resilient and competitive future for Bintulu.”

The ceremony highlighted the importance of collaboration between government, industry, academia, and the community. By recognising sustainable practices, BiSA encourages innovation, strengthens environmental stewardship, and fosters a culture of responsibility across all sectors.

Officials noted that the awards will set a benchmark for sustainability excellence, motivating organisations and individuals to reduce carbon footprints, conserve resources, and enhance social well-being.
