PUSA: Sarawak is on the brink of significant infrastructural transformation as major bridges across the region near completion, marking the culmination of years of effort by the state government.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, announced that 2025 will be a milestone year, with several key bridges becoming operational to enhance connectivity and improve travel times for Sarawakians.
Several bridges, including the Marudi Bridge and Muara Lassa Bridge, are already complete. The Batang Saribas One Bridge in Pusa and the Jepak and Rejang Bridges along Jalan Pasi-Tanjung Manis are expected to open by March this year, ahead of their original timelines.

“The Batang Saribas One Bridge is progressing two per cent ahead of schedule and will likely open before Raya. This will greatly improve mobility during the festive season,” said Aidel.
Construction of the Batang Saribas One Bridge, a key link in the Sarawak Coastal Road project, overcame challenging geological conditions. Contractors employed advanced methods to tackle the soft and uneven soil structure of the Pusa basin, requiring piles as deep as 80 metres.
The 1.55-kilometre-long bridge features dual carriageways, upgraded roads, and aims to replace ferry services. Once operational, it will reduce travel time between Pusa and Beladin from 30 minutes to just a few minutes.
“By the end of 2025, Sarawak will see the completion of other significant bridges, which will further enhance connectivity across the state,” Aidel added.
The Batang Saribas Two Bridge is also progressing steadily, with 51 per cent of the project completed.
These developments highlight Sarawak’s commitment to building robust infrastructure to benefit its people and economy.
