KUCHING, March 27 – A 12-year-old boy from Kuching, reported missing by his family, was found safe in Kapit after an unexpected solo journey. Without his parents’ knowledge, the boy boarded an express bus alone and traveled nearly 11 hours, sparking concern and a frantic search.

The adventurous child managed to slip onto the bus at Kuching Sentral and hid between the seats, avoiding detection by the driver and passengers throughout the entire trip. His disappearance was first reported at Eighth Mile, Jalan Penrissen in Kuching. Later, concerned members of the public found him at Kapit Bus Terminal around 3.30pm yesterday and brought him to the Kapit Police Station.

Hyperactive Nature Led to Unexpected Adventure

Kapit police chief DSP Rohana Nanu stated that investigations confirmed the child voluntarily boarded the bus at Kuching Sentral on March 25 at 9.30pm. He arrived in Kapit the next morning at 8am.

“The child admitted that he took the bus on his own, likely due to his curiosity and hyperactive nature. This caused worry among his family members,” Rohana told TVS.

Reunited with Family, No Criminal Elements Found

As soon as they were informed, the boy’s parents rushed from Kuching to Kapit and arrived at the police station at 12.45am this morning. Authorities confirmed that the boy was unharmed and dismissed online speculations of foul play, including kidnapping allegations.

The police have classified the case as No Further Action (NFA) after ensuring the child was safely reunited with his family. This incident serves as an important reminder for parents to monitor their children closely, especially those with an adventurous spirit.
