DALAT – Families affected by a house collapse in Kampung Bakong Hilir received immediate assistance following a visit by the Minister of Women, Children and Community Welfare and Dalat State Assembly Member, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, on Saturday.
The incident involved the collapse of the kitchen section of Yusuf Long’s residence, leaving the family in a vulnerable situation.
Dato Sri Fatimah personally inspected the site to assess the damage and ensure that aid was delivered promptly.
As part of the emergency response, the Social Welfare Department (JKM) provided a cash donation of RM300 through the Emergency Relief Fund.
Additional support came from the Dalat Service Centre, which distributed food baskets and Petronas kits to help meet the family’s immediate needs.
Dato Sri Fatimah stressed the importance of swift action in such emergencies, noting that rapid aid distribution is vital to safeguard the welfare of victims.
“Immediate assistance is crucial to ensure the well-being of families affected by unexpected incidents like this,” she said.
Her presence at the site underscored the government’s commitment to community welfare and its readiness to respond to emergencies.
The assistance provided reflects a coordinated effort between government agencies and local service centres to ease the burden on affected families.
Community leaders in Dalat have welcomed the intervention, highlighting that such support not only addresses urgent needs but also strengthens trust between residents and government representatives.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and the role of welfare agencies in mitigating the impact of sudden disasters.
The Dalat constituency has seen ongoing efforts to improve community resilience, with welfare programmes and emergency relief schemes designed to provide immediate support during crises.
The latest response demonstrates how these initiatives are being implemented effectively to protect families in need.
