DBKU Welcomes Benchmarking Visit on Environmental Health Division

KUCHING – Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) recently welcomed a delegation from the Environmental Health Division of Putrajaya Corporation for a benchmarking visit aimed at strengthening the scope and implementation of environmental health functions.

The delegation, led by Dr Mohd Helmi bin Abdul Hamid, Director of the Environmental Health Division, was received by Puan Norhayati binti Bidin, Head of DBKU’s Public Relations Division.

The visit provided a platform for both agencies to exchange knowledge and share best practices in environmental health management.

The programme began with an introductory session on DBKU’s operations, presented by Encik Noor Ikhwan Taqiyoddin bin Hisham from the Public Relations Division.

This was followed by a detailed briefing on stray dog management by Encik Khairulnizam bin Abdul Rani, acting head of DBKU’s Environmental Health Division.

The issue of stray animals has been a growing concern in urban areas, and DBKU highlighted its strategies in managing the problem to ensure public safety and community well-being.

In addition, Puan Mastura binti Iskandar delivered a presentation on the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OSH), outlining DBKU’s commitment to maintaining safe working environments for its staff and ensuring compliance with national standards.

Officials noted that the benchmarking visit served as a strategic initiative to strengthen collaboration networks between DBKU and Putrajaya Corporation.

By sharing experiences and approaches, both agencies aim to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of environmental health services.

The visit also underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing urban challenges such as waste management, public hygiene, and occupational safety.
