KUCHING – Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) has reinforced its dedication to maintaining high-quality working environments with the organisation of Gotong-Royong Mega SACSES 2026.
The initiative, held in mid-April, was designed to prepare staff and facilities for the upcoming Internal Audit and SACSES Certification Audit scheduled for 27 April 2026.
The programme was officiated by Acting Director of DBKU, Ts Mohamad Faisal bin Adenan, who also serves as Deputy Director of the Infrastructure Services Department.
He emphasised that the effort was not only about readiness for audits but also about instilling a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and shared responsibility among staff.
Gotong-royong, a traditional Malaysian practice of communal work, has long been associated with fostering unity and cooperation.
By adopting this approach, DBKU sought to highlight the importance of cleanliness, tidiness, and cheerfulness in the workplace.
These values are seen as essential in creating an environment that supports productivity and employee wellbeing.
The Mega SACSES programme involved staff from various departments working together to improve office spaces, ensuring that facilities reflect the standards expected of a modern city administration.
Beyond physical cleanliness, the initiative aimed to strengthen morale and encourage a sense of pride in maintaining a professional environment.
DBKU has consistently promoted initiatives that align with its vision of delivering excellent public services. Programmes such as SACSES are part of a broader agenda to ensure that the city hall remains progressive, values-driven, and responsive to the needs of Kuching’s citizens.
Officials noted that maintaining high standards internally is crucial for sustaining public trust and delivering quality services externally.
Observers pointed out that such initiatives also serve as a reminder of the importance of organisational culture in public institutions.
By embedding values of cooperation and responsibility, DBKU hopes to set a benchmark for other agencies in Sarawak.
The Mega SACSES programme is therefore not only a preparation for audits but also a reflection of DBKU’s long-term commitment to service excellence.
As Kuching continues to grow and modernise, DBKU’s focus on workplace standards underscores its role in shaping a city administration that is both efficient and people-centred.
The Gotong-Royong Mega SACSES 2026 stands as a testament to the city hall’s determination to uphold professionalism while fostering a supportive and cheerful working environment.
