KUCHING – The Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) has reaffirmed its commitment to innovation-driven governance, aligning its agenda with the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint and the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 to advance Kuching’s transformation into a smart, people-centric city.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department and Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, emphasised DBKU’s strategic role in urban planning, public service management and infrastructure development.
He noted that these efforts directly support the state’s vision of building a progressive, inclusive and sustainable Sarawak.
“Innovation is no longer an option but a necessity in the digital era,” he said, highlighting DBKU’s adoption of smart technologies such as traffic management systems, efficient waste management solutions and digital service platforms.
These initiatives have improved service efficiency and enhanced the public’s experience in accessing city services.
Central to DBKU’s long-term vision is the Strategic Planning Blueprint 2030, which translates organisational objectives into actionable plans and measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) across all levels of management.
This roadmap is designed to ensure accountability and consistency in achieving development goals.
As part of the programme, DBKU officers collectively recited the formal integrity pledge, reaffirming their commitment to ethical conduct, transparency and accountability in public service delivery.
The pledge was accompanied by the official launch of DBKU Integrity Day and Innovation 2025, symbolising the commission’s dedication to fostering innovation, creative problem-solving and continuous service improvement.
“When innovation is combined with integrity, it creates a public service ecosystem that is efficient, responsive and trusted by the people,” Dr Abdul Rahman said.
He expressed confidence that with sustained teamwork and commitment, DBKU is well positioned to strengthen Kuching’s reputation as a progressive city admired globally.
The integration of innovation and integrity is expected to reinforce Kuching’s standing as a model for smart city development in Sarawak.
The initiative reflects Sarawak’s broader development aspirations under PCDS 2030, which emphasises digital transformation, sustainability and inclusivity.
DBKU’s proactive measures are seen as vital in ensuring that Kuching remains competitive, resilient and future-ready in the face of rapid technological change.
