Dong Ge Team Brings PERKESO Services Closer to Kuching Residents

Dong Ge Team Brings PERKESO Services Closer to Kuching Residents

KUCHING, 16 May 2025 – A community outreach event by the Dong Ge Team, in collaboration with PERKESO, Batu Lintang Recreation Club, and the Lintangcare Committee, successfully brought convenient social insurance services directly to the people of Poh Kwong Park.

Held at Hai Haw Café (located at the iconic hexagonal pavilion in Poh Kwong Park, Jalan Sungai Maong Tengah), the event ran from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and focused on helping the self-employed and housewives understand and register for PERKESO’s social security schemes.

The services offered included both new applications and renewals for the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) and the Housewives’ Social Security Scheme (SKSSR), which is open to women aged 55 and below. Residents were thankful for the chance to access these services closer to home, without the need to travel to town offices or queue in long lines.

Staff from PERKESO and the organising teams were on hand to assist attendees, explaining the benefits of the schemes and guiding them through the application process. Many participants praised the event for its clear guidance and friendly service.

This initiative reflects the Dong Ge Team’s deep commitment to community welfare. It shows how a caring and proactive approach can truly make a difference in people’s lives by ensuring they are protected under social insurance schemes designed for their unique needs.

As stated by Sih Hua Tong, the President of SUPP Batu Lintang Branch, this won’t be the last. More outreach events are planned to bring social services to neighbourhoods throughout Kuching. The aim: to make social protection easier to access, especially for vulnerable groups.
