KUCHING – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Patinggi Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrived in Kuching on 13 April 2026 to begin a two-day working visit to Sarawak. He is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development.
He touched down at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Kuching Air Base at approximately 7.25 pm aboard a special RMAF aircraft.
His arrival was welcomed by Sarawak Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development, Datuk Martin Ben.
On 14 April, Ahmad Zahid is scheduled to attend the Coordination Meeting for the Handover of the Rural Water Supply Project (BALB) to the Sarawak State Government at the Federal Secretary’s Office, Sultan Iskandar Building.
The meeting is expected to address key issues in rural water supply, ensuring smoother implementation and improved access for communities.
Later in the afternoon, he will pay a courtesy call on the Sarawak Premier at 3.30 pm. His itinerary concludes with his departure back to Kuala Lumpur at 4.30 pm via the RMAF Kuching Air Base.
Accompanying him on this visit is Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Kota Samarahan Member of Parliament, Datuk Rubiah Wang.
The working visit underscores the federal government’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Sarawak, particularly in rural development projects that directly impact the well-being of local communities.
