KOTA SAMARAHAN – Early childhood education has been reaffirmed as the foundation for building a competitive and morally upright generation, said Roselind Wilson Laing, Deputy Director of Early Childhood Education, Community Development Department (KEMAS) Sarawak.
Speaking at the KEMAS Asajaya Nursery/Nursery Student Appreciation Ceremony on Saturday, Roselind emphasised that children must be given early exposure to prepare them for mainstream learning.
She noted that recognition ceremonies play an important role in motivating children to continue their education with enthusiasm.
“Organizing such an event not only recognizes students’ achievements, but can also increase self-confidence and instill a love of knowledge from the early school years,” she said.
Roselind also called on parents to remain active as strategic partners of KEMAS in creating a conducive and positive learning environment. She highlighted that collaboration between educators and parents is vital for holistic child development.
During the ceremony, 516 KEMAS Nursery and Nursery students from the Asajaya and Stakan constituencies received recognition for their achievements throughout the learning session. The event served as a platform to appreciate the dedication of parents and educators in nurturing children’s growth.
“I would like to express my appreciation to KEMAS educators and parents for their high dedication in guiding children to develop comprehensively, in line with future needs,” Roselind added.
Also present were KEMAS Samarahan Division Officer Muhammad Asyraf Md Nor and Early Childhood Education Supervisor KEMAS Kota Samarahan Parliamentarian Sapiah Kipli, reflecting strong institutional support for early childhood education initiatives.
The ceremony underscored the importance of early education in shaping future generations, with KEMAS continuing to play a central role in fostering knowledge, discipline, and values among young learners.
