Early Morning Shootout Near Inanam Bus Terminal Ends in Fatality

KOTA KINABALU (Dec 5): A 59-year-old wanted criminal from Sarawak was fatally shot during a dramatic early morning raid at a building near the Inanam Bus Terminal in Jalan Undan. This marks the fourth such death in connection to a series of criminal activities spanning Sabah and Sarawak.

Sabah Criminal Investigation Department (CID) head, Datuk Azmi Abdul Rahim, confirmed the incident occurred at approximately 1:45am when the police acted on a tip-off. Officers from the D9 Special Investigation Division of the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) conducted the raid.

“As the raiding team entered the premises, the suspect fired at them, forcing the officers to defend themselves by returning fire. The suspect was killed on the spot,” Azmi revealed during a press briefing at the site.

The suspect, identified as a Sarawakian, is believed to have been involved in multiple serious crimes, including murder, across his home state. The police suspect he was closely linked to the three criminals who were fatally shot in Beverly Hill, Bundusan, Penampang on Tuesday night.

“With this latest incident, we believe we have neutralized all the wanted suspects connected to these cases. However, further investigations are ongoing to ensure there are no remaining associates,” said Azmi.

Tuesday night’s shootout, which occurred at 9:13pm, saw three men from Sarawak, aged between 40 and 50, killed in a confrontation with law enforcement.

The swift action by Sabah police highlights their commitment to maintaining safety and addressing criminal threats in the state. Investigations are expected to uncover more details surrounding the suspects’ activities and connections.
