Elderly Man Hurt After Car Crashes Into Tree at Hui Sing Roundabout

KUCHING – An elderly man was left injured after the Perodua Viva he was driving skidded and crashed into a tree at the Taman Hui Sing Roundabout this afternoon.

Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Operations Commander, PBK I TBK II Chaplin Wan, said the fire department received an emergency call regarding the accident at 12.05 pm. A team was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, we found that the victim had already been removed from the vehicle by members of the public before the fire department arrived,” he said in a statement.

The victim, believed to be driving alone during the incident, sustained injuries to his legs and several wounds on his body due to the impact of the crash.

He was given initial treatment at the scene before being transported to the hospital in an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle for further medical attention.

Authorities did not disclose the exact cause of the accident, but preliminary information suggested that the car may have lost control before colliding with the tree.

The quick action of bystanders who rushed to assist the victim before the arrival of emergency personnel was commended by rescue officers, who reminded the public to always prioritize safety when helping accident victims.

Meanwhile, police are expected to carry out further investigations into the crash, including inspecting the vehicle and gathering witness statements to determine what led to the mishap.

The condition of the elderly man is reported to be stable, though he will continue receiving treatment at the hospital.
