The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported that they received an emergency call about the accident at 7:52 a.m., and promptly dispatched a team from the Selangau station, led by Operations Commander Chuma Jadam. According to Commander Chuma, the accident involved a Perodua Myvi exiting the Selangau junction, colliding with a Toyota Hilux en route from Sibu to Bintulu.

“The Myvi driver, the deceased, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated using rescue tools and a scoop stretcher,” Chuma explained. He added that the other two occupants in the Hilux, aged 43 and 36, sustained minor injuries and received medical attention at the scene.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident and urge road users to exercise caution, especially at high-traffic intersections like Jalan Mukah-Selangau.
