According to JBPM’s official statement, the fire involved a three-storey shoplot, with the flames believed to have originated from the ground floor of the building, where the convenience store was operating.

“Upon arrival, the firefighters found the ground floor already engulfed. Swift action was taken using two separate 200-foot hose lines — one positioned at the front and the other at the rear of the premises,” the department said.

The affected area measured approximately 15 by 20 square feet, which made up roughly 30 percent of the total ground floor space.

Thanks to the quick response by the rescue teams, the blaze was successfully contained before it could spread to the upper levels or nearby buildings. No injuries or casualties were reported in this incident.

Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the fire and have urged business owners in the area to inspect their electrical systems and ensure all safety protocols are followed, especially during the dry season.

This incident serves as another reminder of the importance of having functional fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and proper escape plans for all commercial premises.
