The emergency call was received at 18:24 hours, prompting an immediate deployment of assets from the Lundu Fire Station to the affected area, located approximately three kilometres away.

Upon arrival at the scene, rescue teams discovered that a large tree had collapsed onto a grey Nissan Navara pickup truck. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle, specifically shattering the front passenger-side window.

Fortunately, preliminary assessments confirmed that there were no injuries or casualties reported among the occupants or bystanders at the time of the incident.

The primary objective of the operation was to secure the area and remove the hazard. Firefighters utilised chainsaws to systematically cut and clear the fallen timber.

This process ensured that the vehicle could be safely accessed and that the roadway or surrounding area was free from further obstruction.

The team worked efficiently to manage the debris, prioritising the safety of both the public and the emergency responders.

Once the tree was fully removed and the site was declared safe and under control, the fire department personnel concluded their operations.

The team then returned to the station, leaving the vehicle owner to handle the subsequent insurance and repair processes.

The swift action of the responders prevented any potential escalation of the situation, such as further structural damage to the vehicle or risk to passing traffic.

This incident highlights the unpredictable nature of weather conditions and environmental factors that can lead to sudden hazards in residential areas.

While no lives were lost, the event serves as a reminder for residents to remain vigilant, particularly during periods of heavy rain or strong winds which may weaken tree structures.

The Lundu Fire Department continues to maintain a high state of readiness to deal with various types of emergencies, ranging from fires to natural disaster-related incidents.

Their ability to respond quickly within the local community ensures that risks are mitigated effectively. Residents are encouraged to report any dangerous trees or potential hazards to local authorities before they become critical issues.

Public cooperation remains vital in ensuring community safety. By reporting incidents promptly, as seen in this case, residents enable emergency services to deploy resources where they are needed most.

The department’s efficient handling of the situation underscores their commitment to protecting life and property in the Lundu District.

As the monsoon seasons approach, it is advisable for homeowners to inspect trees near their properties and vehicles.

Proactive maintenance can prevent similar accidents, reducing the burden on emergency services and minimising personal loss.

The community in Kampung Tabuan Dayak has expressed gratitude for the prompt assistance provided by the fire brigade.

The successful resolution of this incident reflects the professionalism and preparedness of the local emergency response team.

It also demonstrates the importance of having accessible emergency services in rural and semi-rural districts like Lundu.

Such capabilities are essential for maintaining public confidence and ensuring that daily life can continue with minimal disruption despite unforeseen events.
