Free Vegetarian Lunch & Douhua Delight Brings Warmth to Padungan

Free Vegetarian Lunch & Douhua Delight Brings Warmth to Padungan

KUCHING – In a lively celebration of compassion and community, Councilor Eric Tay Tze Kok and Councilor Liew Leongyee, together with Team Dynamic Kuching and Team Share Love Together, organised a special event to mark the first day of the fourth lunar month with a free vegetarian lunch and Douhua giveaway.

The event was held on 28 April 2025 (Monday) at Sharikat South Asia (Ong Kee) Trading Sdn Bhd, located right opposite the Padungan Police Station. By 11:30 AM, people were already lining up, eager to receive the 100 sets of carefully prepared vegetarian meals and freshly made soybean pudding (Douhua).

Community Spirit Shines at Padungan

Supported by the Padungan Police, KMKK, JKKK, and the dedication of team volunteers, the event brought smiles and joy to residents and visitors alike. More than 100 packets were distributed, filling the air not just with the delicious aroma of vegetarian beehoon but also with the spirit of giving and gratitude.

MBKS Councilor Eric Tay Tze Kok reminded attendees about the meaningful tradition behind this gesture.

“Providing free vegetarian meals on the first and fifteenth days of the lunar month is an act of compassion rooted in gratitude and spiritual reflection. It helps us create good karma, nurture peace within, and spread kindness to all,” he shared.

He added that such practices are a proud part of Malaysia’s rich cultural tapestry, reminding us all to uphold generosity, mindfulness, and unity.

A Small Act, A Big Impact

Team Dynamic Kuching hopes this simple yet heartfelt event will inspire more businesses, organisations, and individuals to extend acts of kindness. By promoting vegetarian meals, the team also wishes to encourage healthier, more compassionate food choices among the community.

Those who attended expressed heartfelt thanks, with many noting how such events make Kuching a warmer, more caring place. In today’s fast-paced world, simple gatherings like this remind us that compassion and community spirit are treasures we must continue to uphold.

Let’s keep building a Malaysia where kindness is celebrated, and no good deed is too small to make a difference!
