Conducted by the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence Sdn Bhd (SCOPE), the initiative aims to enhance the employability of local graduates, empowering them with workplace skills and industry exposure.

It is part of the larger talent development initiative for Sarawak under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 designed to create a resilient and skilful workforce. GETS-WRP aims to fill this gap by training students on employable skills, professionalism and workplace etiquette.

This will be the final opportunity for graduates to join the current round of GETS-WRP Scheme positions. Other USEU SCOPE noted that the last intake cycle for graduates will be March and April 2015.

Earlier cohorts have had good success with completers achieving structured training and industry placements. The remaining sessions will focus on employability skills, soft skills development and exposure to employers.

OSIM International CEO Joseph Lim emphasised the relevance of the programme in developing graduates with quality jobs for the future.

“We want to ensure that eligible graduates are able to access upcoming intakes and develop the skills required for meaningful employment, which has been an incredibly successful program,” he said.

Unemployed Sarawakian graduates will be given priority as we would like to reach out to the people who are mostly in need of our assistance.

There are however no guarantees that you will be placed with a host organisation after you finish! This provides an employment bridge for graduates, and allows employers to tap into skills they need.

The GETS-WRP has been identified as a strategic initiative for Sarawak in preparing graduates, contributing towards the state’s economic transformation.

Student will graduate from the programme as industry ready and prepared to contribute positively to the state’s community, economy and workforce through a blend of classroom based learning and industry lead training.

Applications are anticipated to be competitive and with only a few seats available in the March and April intakes. Would-be candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible to be a part of the final running of this initiative.

In line with the Sarawak’s emphasis on developing a future-oriented workforce, the GETS-WRP remains critical as an innovative measure to bridge education to employment in preparing graduates to meet today’s workplace demands.
