Once operational, the facility will play a vital role in strengthening the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem in northern Sarawak. It is designed to provide more opportunities for local youth to acquire practical skills, thereby supporting the state’s ambition to produce a competitive and highly skilled workforce.

The GIATMARA Limbang project is part of Sarawak’s broader initiative to expand access to vocational training, ensuring that communities outside major urban centres benefit from modern educational infrastructure. By equipping young people with technical expertise, the facility aims to enhance employability and contribute to the state’s socio-economic growth.

TVET has been identified as a key driver in Sarawak’s development agenda, particularly in preparing the workforce for industries such as construction, manufacturing, and services. The Limbang centre is expected to serve as a hub for training programmes that align with the state’s evolving economic needs.

The near completion of the project reflects JKR Sarawak’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that supports education and community development. With progress already surpassing 96%, the facility is anticipated to be ready for use in the near future, providing a timely boost to the region’s training capacity.

Local stakeholders have expressed optimism that the GIATMARA Limbang centre will not only benefit youth but also strengthen collaboration between government agencies, industry players, and educational institutions.
