BAU, SARAWAK – A worker’s house in Kampung Sibuluh, Bau was partially damaged after a fire broke out this afternoon, affecting 30 percent of the structure.

Operations Commander PBK I Nelson Phang stated that the fire brigade’s swift response prevented the blaze from spreading to nearby buildings.

“Upon arriving at the scene, we found that 30 percent of the house was destroyed by fire. Our team immediately worked to extinguish the flames and ensure the fire did not spread further,” he said in a statement today.

The fire was successfully controlled by 1.41 PM, and the operation was concluded four minutes later after confirming the area was safe.

Quick Response from Fire Department

According to the Sarawak Operations Centre (PGO), the fire department received an emergency call at 12.59 PM and immediately dispatched personnel and equipment to the location, which is 10 kilometres away.

The operation involved five firefighters, one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle, and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit. The Station Chief, PKPgB Zainuddin Bin Ngatdemon, was also present to oversee the situation.

Public Reminded to Prioritise Fire Safety

The fire department urges the public to always be vigilant and follow fire safety measures to prevent such incidents.

“We remind everyone to be careful with electrical appliances, open flames, and other potential fire hazards. Early precautions can save lives and property,” the statement added.

There were no reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
