MUKAH – Police in Mukah have arrested an 18-year-old man suspected of involvement in drug abuse activities during a raid at Kampung Lintang, Balingian on 5 April 2026.
The operation was carried out by the Narcotic Criminal Investigation Division of IPD Mukah, following intelligence received by the authorities.
The raid, conducted at around 1.20 pm, targeted a room inside a house in the village. During the inspection, officers discovered a clear straw tube containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine (syabu). The confiscated drugs weighed approximately 0.34 grams.
The suspect, who works as a labourer, was taken into custody along with the seized items. A urine test conducted later confirmed that he tested positive for both amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Police stated that the case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries strict penalties for possession and abuse of controlled substances.
The suspect has been remanded for three days until 9 April 2026 to assist with further investigations. Authorities emphasised that the arrest demonstrates their ongoing commitment to tackling drug-related offences in the Mukah region.
DSP Muhamad Rizal bin Alias, Chief of Police for Mukah District, reaffirmed that the police remain steadfast in combating drug abuse activities.
He urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting any information related to drug offences. Reports can be made directly via the IPD Mukah hotline at 084-871222 or at any nearby police station.
Drug abuse remains a pressing issue across Sarawak, with police intensifying efforts to curb distribution and consumption.

The Mukah police have assured residents that they will continue to carry out targeted operations and surveillance to safeguard communities from the dangers of drug abuse.
Authorities stressed that vigilance and cooperation from the public are essential in reducing the spread of narcotics in local villages.
