KUCHING – The Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) successfully organised a spiritual programme in conjunction with its Dhiya’ Ramadan calendar, bringing together staff and members of the public for night worship and communal sahur.
The event, held at Surau Majma’ Mall, Jalan P. Ramlee, began in the early hours of 15 March 2026. Starting at 3:30 am, participants registered before joining the Qiamullail prayers led by Sahibus Siyadah Ustaz Haji Mual bin Haji Suaud, Director of JAIS, who was present to guide and participate in the worship.
The quiet morning atmosphere was filled with sunnah prayers and dhikr, creating a reflective environment for attendees.
At 4:30 am, the congregation gathered for the Sahur Jama’i ceremony, where food was shared among officers and members of the public.
Organisers emphasised that the sahur feast was intended to foster unity and allow participants to experience the blessings of eating together before dawn.
As the call to prayer sounded at 5:39 am, the programme culminated in the performance of the Fardu Subuh prayer in congregation.
Immediately afterwards, Ustaz Haji Mual delivered a special tazkirah, reminding participants of the importance of consistency in worship and encouraging them to seek the virtues of Lailatulqadar, the Night of Power, during the final ten nights of Ramadan.
With the theme “Selamat Beramal & Meraih Pahala Berganda”, JAIS highlighted its intention to inspire continued devotion throughout Ramadan.
The department expressed hope that such initiatives would strengthen bonds between its employees and the wider community, while also encouraging the practice of worship, charity, and fellowship during the holy month.
The Dhiya’ Ramadan programme is one of JAIS’s annual efforts to enrich the spiritual life of Muslims in Sarawak.
By combining worship with communal activities, the department aims to cultivate a deeper sense of brotherhood and ensure that the values of Ramadan are shared across society.
