Luxury Car and Home Saved from Major Fire on Jalan Almeria, Miri

MIRI: A quick response from residents prevented a possible tragedy when a house and a luxury car were nearly destroyed in a fire that broke out early this morning along Jalan Almeria here.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 3.53 am, prompting the dispatch of a team from the Miri Sentral Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) located about 11 kilometres away.

Upon arrival at 4.04 am, firefighters discovered that the blaze had started in front of the main entrance of the house and had already spread to a BMW car, which was estimated to be 30 per cent burnt.

In a statement issued today, JBPM said the fire was successfully extinguished by the occupants of the house before the arrival of the fire brigade.

“The operation commander instructed his team to carry out a thorough inspection and monitoring at the scene to ensure there were no risks of re-ignition,” the statement said.

The firefighting operation was fully brought under control at 4.08 am and officially ended at 4.40 am.

No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the authorities.

The swift action of the residents is believed to have prevented the situation from escalating into a larger and more destructive blaze.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining fire safety measures at home, especially during the early hours when response time is crucial.

Firefighters commended the vigilance of the homeowners, whose prompt efforts helped protect not only their property but also the safety of the surrounding area.
