Jalan Satok Crash: Motorcyclist and pedestrian injured, discharged same day

KUCHING, April 12 – A road accident that occurred along Jalan Satok has gone viral on social media, prompting Kuching police to call on those involved to come forward and assist with investigations.

The incident, which took place on April 10 around 5.25pm, involved a motorcyclist and a pedestrian. It happened near the traffic lights at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, heading towards Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yakub, where the motorcycle collided with a man crossing the road towards Wisma Satok.

The force of the collision caused the motorcyclist to lose control and slide under a vehicle in the right lane. Fortunately, both individuals only suffered minor injuries and were taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment. They were admitted into the Yellow Zone and discharged on the same day, according to a statement by Kuching District Police Chief Supt Merbin Lisa.

Despite the video of the incident circulating widely online, neither the pedestrian nor the motorcyclist has lodged a police report so far. Police are now urging both parties to step forward and assist in completing the investigation.

“We hope both individuals involved will come to the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Kuching District Police Headquarters,” said Supt Merbin.

He also reminded the public not to speculate or spread false information, which could lead to public confusion or unnecessary panic.

Authorities are treating the case seriously, especially due to the growing public attention sparked by the viral clip. The police are committed to uncovering the full details of the accident and ensuring all sides are heard fairly. — Polis Daerah Kuching
