Driver Survives Solo Crash on Jalan Song-Kapit

SONG — A man escaped serious injury after the car he was driving was involved in a self-inflicted accident near the traffic light on Jalan Song-Kapit early this morning.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre (PGO), a distress call was received at 8.19 am, prompting an immediate response from the Song Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Song).

“Upon arrival at the scene, our team discovered that the incident involved a single-vehicle crash. The male driver had already exited the vehicle safely before our Emergency Operations Team (EOT) arrived,” the statement said.

It is understood that the driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into an object head-on. Fortunately, he did not suffer any serious injuries and did not require medical assistance at the scene.

“No rescue operation was necessary as the victim was conscious, responsive, and unharmed,” the department confirmed.

The firefighters, however, assisted the man in moving the vehicle to the side of the road to avoid traffic congestion.

While the exact cause of the incident remains unclear, authorities have not ruled out human error or momentary loss of focus as contributing factors.

This accident serves as a reminder for drivers to stay alert and cautious, especially on familiar roads where complacency can set in. Jalan Song-Kapit, which connects several rural communities, has seen a rise in traffic volume in recent years and demands greater attention from motorists.

No police report has been filed at the time of writing, but the public is urged to contact authorities if they witnessed the incident or have further information.
