Tragic Three-Vehicle Crash in Jempol Claims Lorry Driver’s Life

JEMPOL – A man tragically lost his life in a three-vehicle collision at Kilometer 13 of Jalan Bahau-Rompin on Sunday night.

The accident occurred at approximately 11.30pm when the victim, a 32-year-old lorry driver returning home to Padang New Rompin, was involved in a head-on collision.

Jempol District Police Chief, Superintendent Norhisham Mustapar, said the crash involved a Proton Persona, a Honda City, and a Perodua Viva. “Preliminary investigations indicate that the Proton Persona, driven by a 39-year-old man from Bahau to Rompin, lost control and crossed into the opposite lane,” he explained.

The out-of-control Proton Persona first collided with a Honda City traveling in the opposite direction, before striking the Perodua Viva head-on. The impact caused the Proton Persona to catch fire.

Tragically, the 32-year-old driver of the Perodua Viva sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Proton Persona suffered minor injuries, while the Honda City driver was uninjured.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving,” Superintendent Norhisham added.

Authorities have urged anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward. Witnesses can contact the investigating officer, Inspector Muhammad Fasha Haiqal Mohd Faisal, at 016-3627746 to assist with the investigation.

Road safety remains a critical concern, especially along major routes such as Jalan Bahau-Rompin, which have seen multiple accidents in recent years. Drivers are reminded to stay vigilant, control their speed, and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies.
