KANGAR – The Malaysian Immigration Department of Perlis State has reinforced its commitment to law enforcement through continuous operations under Operation Kutip, targeting immigration violations across the Kangar district.

On 14 July, officers inspected five individuals, including one Malaysian citizen, three Bangladeshi nationals, and one Pakistani. Following the checks, three foreigners – two Bangladeshis and one Pakistani – were detained on suspicion of committing offences under immigration legislation.

Authorities confirmed that the offences included overstaying in Malaysia under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, failing to possess valid passes or travel documents under Section 6(1)(c) of the same Act, and breaching pass conditions under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.

The detainees were subsequently taken to the Immigration Office for further action in accordance with existing legal provisions. Officials emphasised that enforcement will continue to be carried out consistently, regardless of time or location, to ensure compliance with national laws.

The Immigration Department highlighted that these operations are part of a broader strategy to preserve public order and safeguard national security. By maintaining strict enforcement, the department aims to deter violations and uphold Malaysia’s immigration framework.

Operation Kutip has been implemented across Perlis to monitor and address irregular migration activities. The initiative reflects the department’s proactive stance in detecting offenders and ensuring that immigration laws are respected.

Community awareness remains a crucial element in supporting enforcement efforts. Authorities have urged the public not to shelter or employ undocumented migrants, stressing that such actions undermine national security and social stability.

The department reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in enforcement activities. Regular operations are expected to continue, with officers deployed across different areas to identify and act against individuals who fail to comply with immigration requirements.

Observers note that immigration enforcement in Perlis is particularly significant due to its geographical position near Malaysia’s northern border. The state has long been a focal point for monitoring cross-border movement, making consistent enforcement essential to managing migration flows.

The Immigration Department’s firm stance demonstrates Malaysia’s broader commitment to upholding the rule of law. By ensuring that offenders are dealt with in accordance with legal provisions, the department seeks to reinforce public confidence in its operations.

As enforcement continues, the department has pledged to remain vigilant and uncompromising in its approach. The message is clear: violations of immigration laws will not be tolerated, and offenders will face appropriate legal consequences.
