KUCHING – The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has entered into a strategic partnership with Bentley Systems (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and Digile Sdn. Bhd. through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 23 April 2026.
The agreement is designed to accelerate the adoption of digital engineering practices and strengthen infrastructure delivery across the state.
The collaboration will centre on integrating advanced digital technologies into project planning, design, and implementation.
By embracing these innovations, JKR Sarawak aims to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the quality of infrastructure projects for the benefit of local communities.
Bentley Systems, a global leader in infrastructure engineering software, brings expertise in digital twin technology and integrated design solutions.
Digile, meanwhile, specialises in digital transformation strategies, offering tools and platforms that support data-driven decision-making.
Together, the three organisations intend to create a framework that modernises how infrastructure projects are conceived and executed in Sarawak.
The initiative aligns with JKR Sarawak’s broader vision of modernising infrastructure delivery while ensuring sustainability and resilience.
Officials have highlighted that digital engineering will allow for better coordination between stakeholders, improved transparency in project management, and more accurate forecasting of long-term maintenance needs.
Sarawak has been actively pursuing innovation in infrastructure development, with recent collaborations involving universities and industry partners to strengthen research and talent pipelines.
The latest MoU builds on these efforts by embedding digital technologies into everyday engineering practices, ensuring that future projects meet international standards.
The partnership also reflects Sarawak’s commitment to supporting the state’s development agenda, particularly in rural and urban areas where infrastructure plays a critical role in connectivity and economic growth.
By adopting digital solutions, JKR Sarawak hopes to deliver projects that are not only efficient but also sustainable and responsive to community needs.
While the MoU marks the beginning of this collaboration, the parties have expressed confidence that the initiative will set a benchmark for digital engineering in Malaysia.
The agreement is expected to pave the way for further innovation, positioning Sarawak as a leader in modern infrastructure delivery.
