BINTULU – The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) inspected 315 vehicles during enforcement operations along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi in Bintulu on 24 September, with several offences recorded and two vehicles seized.
The operation was carried out by the Bintulu JPJ Operations Unit through Ops Extreme and Ops Motosikal, focusing on compliance among different types of road users, including motorcyclists.
During the operation, officers inspected 315 vehicles and identified a number of offences involving driving licences, vehicle registration plates and technical requirements.
Among the violations detected were cases where drivers did not have a valid driving licence, as well as breaches involving the conditions attached to probationary, or “P”, driving licences. Officers also found vehicles using registration plates that did not comply with the relevant requirements.
Other offences related to vehicle technical specifications were also recorded during the enforcement exercise. The operation therefore covered several aspects of road transport compliance rather than being limited to motorcycle-related offences.
Two vehicles were seized during the operation for separate reasons. A motorcycle was taken into custody after officers found that its Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) and insurance coverage had expired.
A car was also seized after it was found to have been driven by a foreign national who did not possess a valid driving licence.
The enforcement measures were carried out in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. The action forms part of JPJ Sarawak’s ongoing activities to monitor road users and address offences involving vehicle and driving requirements.
The department has advised vehicle owners and users to check that their driving licences, LKM and insurance coverage remain valid before using their vehicles on public roads.
JPJ Sarawak also reminded road users to ensure their vehicles comply with established conditions and technical specifications. This includes meeting the applicable requirements for registration plates and other vehicle-related standards.
For drivers, maintaining valid documentation is an essential part of complying with road transport regulations.
The department’s advice covers both individual vehicle users and owners who are responsible for ensuring that their vehicles can be legally operated.
The latest operation in Bintulu follows continued enforcement activity by JPJ Sarawak aimed at improving compliance with road transport laws.
Such operations allow officers to identify offences during roadside inspections and take action where breaches are detected.
The department said enforcement operations would continue as part of its efforts to strengthen compliance with existing regulations.
Road safety remains one of the stated priorities of the enforcement activities, alongside ensuring that vehicles and their users meet the requirements for operating on public roads.
