JPJ Miri Launches Special Ops to Crack Down on Commercial Vehicle Violations

MIRI, 30 October 2025 (Thursday) – The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ), through its Miri Branch Enforcement Division, has launched a Special Operation to Crush Commercial Vehicles in and around Miri town. The operation aims to ensure that all commercial vehicle drivers and operators maintain full compliance with road transport laws and safety regulations.

During the operation, a total of 399 vehicles of various types were inspected, resulting in 129 non-compliance notices issued for different offences. The most common offences detected were non-standard registration numbers (35 cases), technical vehicle faults (24 cases), and driving without a valid license (14 cases).

A JPJ spokesperson stated that the operation would be carried out continuously as both a preventive and enforcement measure to raise awareness and strengthen adherence to the law among road users—especially those in the commercial transport sector. The department stressed that road safety and legal compliance are top priorities to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and safeguard all road users.

JPJ Sarawak reminded all commercial vehicle operators and drivers to regularly check their vehicles to ensure they meet all technical and legal requirements before operating on public roads. The department warned that failure to comply not only breaches the law but also endangers lives and disrupts traffic movement.

“The safety of everyone on the road depends on the discipline and responsibility of each driver. We urge all commercial operators to play their part in maintaining safe vehicles,” the statement added.

JPJ Sarawak affirmed that similar enforcement actions would continue to be intensified from time to time, ensuring that the level of legal compliance remains at its highest standard across the state.
