JPJ Sibu Conducts Ops HRA 2026 in Stapang

SIBU – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak has carried out Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri (HRA) 2026 through its Stapang Enforcement Station, focusing on road safety and compliance during the festive season. The operation took place on Saturday, 28 March, covering Stapang town and the Sibu–Bintulu Pan Borneo Highway.

The enforcement team inspected a total of 120 vehicles of various types throughout the exercise. Several offences were detected, including driving without a licence, expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM), lack of insurance coverage, failure to wear seat belts, and other technical violations related to vehicle safety.

JPJ officers took immediate action against offenders in accordance with existing laws. The department emphasised that strict enforcement is necessary to ensure compliance and to safeguard all road users, particularly during the busy festive travel period.

Ops HRA is part of JPJ’s wider initiative to reduce road accidents and fatalities during Hari Raya Aidilfitri, a time when traffic volumes typically increase significantly. By targeting high-risk behaviours such as driving without valid documents or neglecting basic safety measures, JPJ aims to raise awareness and encourage responsible driving.

The Stapang Enforcement Station plays a crucial role in monitoring traffic along the Pan Borneo Highway, a major route connecting Sibu to Bintulu. With more vehicles expected on the road during the holiday season, JPJ has pledged to maintain consistent patrols and checks to deter reckless driving and ensure smoother traffic flow.

JPJ Sarawak reiterated its commitment to continuous enforcement, stating that compliance with road regulations is essential for reducing accidents and protecting lives. The department also reminded motorists to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and that all necessary documents are up to date before embarking on long journeys.

The operation reflects JPJ’s ongoing efforts to strengthen road safety culture in Sarawak, aligning with national objectives to reduce accident rates and promote responsible road use.
