JPJ Serian Tightens Road Enforcement in Major Routes Under Operation Gempur

JPJ Serian Tightens Road Enforcement in Major Routes Under Operation Gempur

SERIAN — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Serian Branch has stepped up its enforcement efforts through Operation Gempur, a daily operation targeting several key routes including Jalan Pan Borneo, Outering Samarahan, and the Serian–Tebedu stretch.

The operation reflects JPJ’s long-standing commitment to keeping Malaysian roads safe while reminding drivers to follow the law. Even as times change, road safety remains a shared responsibility, and JPJ continues to take a firm approach to protect all road users.

According to JPJ Serian, the operation was carried out to ensure that public compliance with road regulations remains at an optimal level. At the same time, it aims to reduce accidents, encourage responsible driving habits, and create safer travel conditions for the surrounding communities.

During the enforcement exercise, officers inspected 61 vehicles of various types. From the inspections, 25 non-compliance notices were issued for different offences. These included driving without a valid licence, expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM), registration numbers that did not follow proper specifications, and several technical violations involving vehicle condition and safety features.

JPJ stated that these checks are necessary to ensure that every driver plays their part in reducing risks on the road. The department emphasised that even minor negligence can lead to serious consequences, especially on busy routes such as Pan Borneo and major connecting roads around Serian.

JPJ Sarawak also reiterated that enforcement will continue on a regular basis. Continuous monitoring, they said, is not meant to burden the public but to maintain safe, smooth, and organised traffic flow. Authorities urge all drivers to stay disciplined, ensure their documents are updated, and follow all regulations for the sake of everyone’s safety.

The department ended with a reminder: responsible driving starts with each individual, and abiding by the law is the simplest way to protect yourself and others on the road.
