JULAU – The Julau District Police Headquarters held a formal handover ceremony on 28 April 2026 to mark the transition of leadership within the district police force.
The event was conducted with full ceremonial proceedings and was witnessed by Sarawak Police Commissioner YDH CP Datuk Mohamad Zainal bin Haji Abdullah.
The occasion saw YDH DSP Alif Haiqal Ramesh bin Abdullah officially hand over his responsibilities as Julau District Police Chief to Insp Marson Lawai. In addition, the role of Chairman of the Julau IPD PERKEP was also transferred during the ceremony.
DSP Alif Haiqal Ramesh announced his resignation from the position, explaining that he would continue his career with Sarawak Energy Berhad.
His departure marks the end of his tenure in Julau, where he had been actively involved in strengthening police-community relations and overseeing law enforcement operations.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from government departments, local agencies, tribal leaders, and community figures from both Julau and Pakan districts.
Their presence reflected the strong ties between the police force and the wider community, as well as the importance of continuity in leadership.
The event concluded with a group photo session and a luncheon, providing an opportunity for attendees to engage informally and extend their well wishes to both outgoing and incoming officers.
In his remarks, DSP Alif Haiqal Ramesh highlighted the significance of service and legacy, stating: “Every trust that is fulfilled is a legacy.
Even though the steps are continued into different fields, the service and experience left behind remain an inspiration to continue to drive the excellence of the organisation.”
The transition is expected to ensure smooth continuity of operations within the Julau District Police Headquarters.
Insp Marson Lawai will now take on the responsibility of leading the district force, with a focus on maintaining public safety and strengthening collaboration with local communities.
Leadership changes within district police forces are a regular part of organisational development, ensuring that officers bring fresh perspectives while building on the achievements of their predecessors.
The Julau handover ceremony reflects this tradition, underscoring the importance of discipline, dedication, and community partnership in policing.
