MIRI – YB Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Sarawak (MFICORD), conducted an official working visit on 14 July 2026 to the Precision Farming Park Development Project site in Kabuloh, Miri.
The project, implemented by Perbadanan Pembangunan Pertanian Negeri Sarawak (PPNS), is scheduled for completion in January 2027. During the visit, PPNS General Manager Mr Gom Raway presented the progress status and outlined the development milestones.
Accompanying the Minister were YB Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, Deputy Minister of MFICORD and Chairman of PPNS; Datuk Ripin Lamat, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak; Dominic Chunggat, Director of Agriculture Sarawak; Knot Atok, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MFICORD; Dr Maclin Dayod, Principal Assistant Director of Research and Development Division, Department of Agriculture Sarawak; Chong Mui Sia, Miri Division Agriculture Officer; Sibylle Suley Anak Surik, PPNS Engineering Services Manager; and Nobel Pang, Chief Executive Officer of Agro Global Sdn. Bhd.
The Kabuloh Precision Farming Park project represents a strategic initiative to modernise Sarawak’s agriculture sector. Precision farming integrates advanced technologies such as data-driven monitoring, smart irrigation, and automated systems to optimise crop yields, reduce resource wastage, and enhance sustainability.
Minister Rundi emphasised that the project is part of Sarawak’s broader agenda to strengthen food security, empower farmers with modern tools, and position the state as a leader in agricultural innovation. He noted that precision farming is crucial in addressing challenges such as climate change, labour shortages, and the need for higher productivity.
The involvement of PPNS as the implementing agency highlights the state’s commitment to ensuring efficient delivery and management of agricultural projects. Collaboration with industry players such as Agro Global Sdn. Bhd. further demonstrates the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing Sarawak’s agricultural transformation.
The Kabuloh site visit reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting initiatives that combine innovation with sustainability. Once completed, the Precision Farming Park is expected to serve as a model for future agricultural projects, showcasing how technology can drive growth while safeguarding environmental resources.
