Kampung Belimbing B Wins Serian Village Cleanliness & Cheerfulness 2025

SERIAN – Kampung Belimbing B has emerged as the overall champion of the Serian Division Village Cleanliness and Cheerfulness Competition Series 2/2025, organised under the Community Development Programme by the Serian District Council (MDS).

The prize presentation ceremony took place on Tuesday, marking another milestone in the council’s ongoing efforts to promote community participation and environmental awareness.

The competition, held annually, seeks to encourage villages to take an active role in fostering creativity, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting sustainable practices.

Kampung Belimbing B’s victory earned them a cash prize of RM3,000, along with a certificate and a trophy.

Kampung Terbat Mawang secured second place, receiving RM2,500, while Kampung Mentu Pondok finished third with RM2,000. Both runners-up were also awarded certificates and trophies.

The ceremony was officiated by Felix Kunyau, Deputy Chairman of MDS, who praised the participating villages for their commitment to community development and environmental stewardship.

Beyond the main competition, several other activities were organised to engage different groups within the community.

These included a Colouring Contest, an Online Reading Programme, and the Waste to Wow Programme, which featured both a 3D Poster Competition and a Waste Material Design Competition.

In the Secondary School category of the Waste Material Design Competition, SMK Siburan emerged as champion, winning RM500.

SMK Tebakang took second place with RM300, while SMK Serian came third, receiving RM200. Each school was presented with a plaque and certificate.

For the Primary School category, SJKC Beratok claimed the top spot, while SJKC Tapah finished second. SJKC Beratok also secured third place, demonstrating strong participation from the school.

In the Village category, Kampung Siantan was crowned champion, while in the Government Agency category, MDS Yana took first place. Both winners received RM500.

The 3D Poster Competition saw SJKC Tapah win in the Primary School category, while JKR Serian triumphed in the Government Agency category. Each winner received RM150.

Meanwhile, the Online Reading Competition highlighted individual talent, with Jaber Valery Jerry taking first place and earning RM200. Teresa Grace Unting came second with RM150, while Elina Chai Yu Tong secured third place with RM100.

The event was attended by Mahathir Zafar, Acting Secretary of MDS, and Nyalu Janggeng, Deputy Education Officer of Serian District.

Organisers expressed hope that the competition would continue to inspire unity, creativity, and sustainability among local communities, reinforcing Serian’s reputation for active civic engagement.
