SRI AMAN – A fallen tree caused disruption in Kampung Hilir on 6 April 2026, blocking the main road and damaging an electric cable before being cleared by the Civil Defence Force (APM) Sri Aman.
The incident was reported by local resident Mrs. Maimunah, who contacted APM after noticing the obstruction.
Upon arrival, APM members discovered that a fig tree, roughly the size of a black trash bin, had collapsed across the road and crushed a live electric cable.
Due to the safety risks, APM officers were required to wait for a contractor from SESCO to shut down the electricity supply before cutting operations could begin.
Once the line was safely deactivated, the team proceeded to cut down the tree and clear the debris from the road.
The operation was completed without complications, and the area was restored to normal traffic flow. After the clean-up, APM members returned to their base at PKOD.
Authorities highlighted the importance of community cooperation in reporting such incidents promptly. Fallen trees can pose significant hazards, not only obstructing roads but also endangering lives when power lines are involved. Quick reporting allows emergency teams to respond effectively and minimise risks.
The Sri Aman Civil Defence Force continues to remind residents to remain vigilant, especially during periods of unpredictable weather when falling trees and related hazards are more likely.
Officials stressed that public safety remains their priority, and collaboration with agencies such as SESCO ensures that operations are carried out efficiently and securely.
This latest incident underscores the crucial role of APM in handling emergencies beyond disaster response, including everyday community safety issues. Their swift action ensured that Kampung Hilir residents could resume normal activities without prolonged disruption.
