KOTA SAMARAHAN – Firefighters brought a bush fire under control at Taman Bukit Berangan on Saturday, 8 August, after flames spread across an estimated two acres of grass and bushes.
The incident was reported at around 12.06 pm after the Kota Samarahan Fire and Rescue Station received a call concerning the fire.
Fire and rescue personnel were dispatched to Lorong Bukit Berangan Ria 15, Taman Bukit Berangan, where they found the fire affecting an area covered by vegetation.
The affected area was estimated to be approximately two acres, involving grass and bushes. Firefighters began efforts to contain the blaze after arriving at the scene.
The firefighting operation involved several methods and equipment to tackle the burning vegetation and prevent the fire from spreading further.
Among the equipment used was a first aid hose, while fire beaters were also deployed during the operation. A 300-foot stream was used as part of the effort to bring the fire under control.
Firefighters successfully contained the blaze before extinguishing it completely at approximately 12.55 pm.
The operation continued after the fire had been put out as personnel checked the surrounding area to ensure that the situation was safe.
The additional checks were carried out to make sure there were no remaining sources of fire that could potentially cause the flames to spread again.
The operation was officially concluded at 1.50 pm after firefighters confirmed that the area was safe and that there was no further source of fire spread.
The incident occurred at Taman Bukit Berangan in Kota Samarahan, an area where grass and bush vegetation can provide combustible material during a fire.
The response by the Kota Samarahan Fire and Rescue Station focused on containing the fire within the affected area and preventing it from spreading beyond the approximately two acres of grass and bushes involved.
No further fire spread was detected before the operation ended.
The incident highlights the need for continued vigilance around areas containing dry grass, bushes and other vegetation, particularly when a fire occurs close to residential surroundings.
Firefighters remained at the location until the area had been assessed and considered safe, bringing the response to an end less than two hours after the initial call was received.
The bush fire was therefore fully extinguished on the afternoon of 8 August, with the firefighting operation ending at 1.50 pm.
