As a result, police issued 64 summonses for a variety of traffic violations. These included driving without a valid licence, expired road tax, modified exhaust systems, fancy registration numbers, and operating a vehicle under the age of 18.

Eighteen motorcycles were also confiscated under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 (APJ 1987) and brought to the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters for further investigation.

A police spokesperson said that such operations are part of an ongoing initiative to ensure road safety and discipline among motorists, especially youths who are often involved in illegal racing or “Mat Rempit” activities.

“We urge parents to closely monitor their children’s movements and ensure they do not participate in illegal motorcycle racing or other dangerous activities that could risk their lives and others,” the spokesperson added.

Police have also reminded the public that similar enforcement operations will continue from time to time to ensure full compliance with traffic laws and to maintain public safety on the roads.
