KPWK Invites Assembly Speaker to Officiate Sarawak Preschool Convention

KUCHING – A delegation from the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak (KPWK) paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, on Tuesday.

The visit, led by Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak, was to invite the Speaker to officiate as Guest of Honour at the upcoming Sarawak Preschool International Convention (SPIC) 2025.

Scheduled for 26–28 September 2025 at The Waterfront Hotel, Kuching, the convention is organised by KPWK in partnership with the Sarawak Early Childhood Development Council (MPAKS).

The flagship event underscores the state’s commitment to enhancing early childhood care and education (ECCE) as a cornerstone of future human capital development.

Themed “Building the Nation Through Quality Early Childhood Education”, the convention is expected to draw around 1,350 participants, comprising international and local educators, policymakers, researchers, and caregivers.

Approximately 350 participants will attend in person, while about 1,000 more will join virtually via Zoom Webinar and Facebook Live.

The programme will feature keynote sessions and a panel discussion on aligning early childhood education with Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), with contributions from distinguished experts and UNICEF Malaysia.

SPIC 2025 aims to foster collaboration, drive innovation, and promote professional development across the ECCE sector, further strengthening Sarawak’s leadership in advancing both local and international standards of early education.
