KUCHING – The Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) expressed its appreciation to residents for their enthusiastic participation in the latest edition of Kuching Car Free Morning (KCFM), held at MASJA on 10 May.
The weekly initiative, which promotes healthy living and environmental awareness, once again drew strong community involvement.
Participants joined in Aerodance sessions, took part in the Fun Walk Beriama 2026, and enjoyed the opportunity to exercise together in a safe and car-free environment. Many attendees wore coordinated outfits, adding to the lively atmosphere of the event.
In addition to fitness activities, residents were able to purchase compost fertiliser for use in home gardens, supporting sustainable practices and encouraging urban agriculture.
The fertiliser, suitable for flowers and vegetables, reflects DBKU’s broader efforts to promote eco-friendly living among Kuching residents.
DBKU extended special thanks to Yang Berbahagia Datu Haji Abdul Hadi bin Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir, Chief Executive Officer of the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust (LAKMNS), for attending and showing support for the healthy lifestyle initiative.
His presence underscored the collaborative spirit between community organisations and local authorities in encouraging wellness and civic engagement.
The Car Free Morning programme has become a regular fixture in Kuching, offering residents a chance to enjoy recreational activities without traffic congestion.
It also serves as a platform to strengthen community bonds and raise awareness about sustainable urban living.
DBKU highlighted that the success of KCFM relies on the active participation of residents, whose involvement demonstrates the caring and cooperative spirit of Kuching North.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the initiative, ensuring that future sessions remain engaging, inclusive, and beneficial to the community.
Organisers noted that the event is not only about fitness but also about fostering civic pride and environmental responsibility.
By encouraging walking, cycling, and group exercise, KCFM contributes to reducing carbon emissions while promoting healthier lifestyles.
DBKU concluded by thanking all participants for their steady support and invited residents to join the next session of KCFM, promising another opportunity to celebrate community spirit and healthy living in Kuching.
