64 Foreigners Nabbed in Kuching Immigration Raid Over Two Days

64 Foreigners Nabbed in Kuching Immigration Raid Over Two Days

KUCHING, 21 May 2025 – A large-scale immigration enforcement operation has resulted in the arrest of 64 individuals suspected of violating Malaysia’s immigration laws. The operation, carried out by the Kuching Immigration Enforcement Division, took place over two days—20 and 21 May 2025—and was part of an ongoing effort to crack down on illegal foreigners.

Two coordinated missions, Ops Sapu (Sweep Ops) and Ops Rawat (Treat Ops), were conducted at eight targeted locations around Kuching, involving a team of 30 officers from various law enforcement agencies.

Those arrested include 55 men and 9 women from various countries. Most were found guilty of offences such as:

  • Staying in the country without valid travel documents,
  • Overstaying their permitted period, and
  • Misusing their visit passes.

This operation underscores the department’s seriousness in tackling undocumented migration and abuse of immigration facilities.

The Immigration Department is urging the public and employers not to harbour, protect, or employ foreign nationals who do not possess valid documentation. Such actions are not only irresponsible but also violate national laws and may lead to heavy penalties, including fines and imprisonment.

Authorities have reminded all employers to carry out proper due diligence and ensure their workers possess valid permits and passports. Immigration operations will continue to be carried out from time to time across Sarawak as part of a broader strategy to uphold national security and sovereignty.

This operation highlights the government’s zero-tolerance stance on illegal immigrants, in line with ensuring safety and legal order in the country.
