KUCHING – The Mayor of Kuching North City Hall, Yang Berbahagia Dato Haji Hilmy bin Haji Othman, welcomed a courtesy visit from Yang Berbahagia Datu Dr Sabariah Putit, Advisor to the Organisation of Kuching Sustainable and Heritage Empowerment (OKSHE), at the DBKU Bukit Siol headquarters yesterday.
The meeting aimed to strengthen strategic ties between OKSHE and the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), particularly regarding initiatives that promote a safer, more sustainable, and liveable urban environment.
Both parties engaged in discussions to exchange ideas, share insights, and identify opportunities for collaboration to enhance urban governance and the well-being of Kuching’s communities.
Central to the talks was the shared vision of balancing modern development with heritage conservation, ensuring Kuching remains inclusive and resilient.
This aligns with broader efforts to advance the city’s development agenda while preserving its unique historical and cultural identity.
During the visit, Datu Dr Sabariah presented a copy of the book “Kampung Warisan Bandar Raya Kuching” to Dato Haji Hilmy.
The publication serves as documentation of the city’s heritage, community identity, and historical value, reflecting the importance of recognising Kuching’s past within its ongoing growth.
DBKU reaffirmed its commitment to fostering partnerships with organisations like OKSHE to support initiatives that sustain the city’s cultural fabric while promoting progress.
Also present was Yang Berusaha Encik Rudzaimeir Malek, Deputy Director of the DBKU Community Services Department, who participated in the discussions.
